Edited the paragraph on MOS3 and further expansion as it was inaccurate based on current information that can be found on NJ Transit's website. The information there now reflects the current situation.

Is the coloured text really necessary? The yellow and blue text is difficult to read on a computer screen. Darkcore 05:35, 14 February 2006 (UTC)
- Is it necessary, no. Colored text had been used in previous versions of the page to describe the previous route system. The new route pattern effective February 11, 2006, uses yellow, green and turquoise on the route maps to distinguish between the three routes. While it isn't ideal for the eye (black text on a white background would provide optimal contrast), the use of text in the corresponding route colors does serve to emphasize the routes available at each individual station. Any suggestions for an alternative means to differentiate between the three routes in another manner? The station sequence boxes at the bottom of the pages for individual stations use the color coding in boxes to the left and right of the route. Take a look at any of the pages (other than the five stations on the Bayonne branch, which are incomplete for now) for an example of one possible technique. Alansohn 05:56, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

- I made the new map for this article, so I'm familiar with the new route pattern. We had a similar discussion regarding the Port Authority Trans-Hudson article, which also uses colours to differentiate route lines. For that article, we created different articles for each line (i.e., there would be West Side Avenue-Tonnelle Avenue (HBLR line), 22nd Street-Hoboken Terminal (HBLR line), Hoboken Terminal-Tonnelle Avenue (HBLR line) articles, and they would be linked to within the main HBLR article). This allows you to differentiate between the three routes, and people can click on the line link if they want more information about that particular line. - It would certainly be possible to pull out the details and create separate articles for each of the three routes. To me, the downside of that approach is that there is so much overlap between the routes and that these routes don't have to much of a separate identity. These aren't three separate spokes that intersect at a point or two, they're basically three strands of a rope that uncoils a bit at each end. Another alternative might be to put a colored box preceding and / or following the route name,and keep the route name in black. I'll think this through further, but I think that the number of stations is samll enough that we should try for now to keep the in one place, and focus on a means of presenting the data in a meaningful manner. Hi all, just wanted to tell you that we have a NJT-specific template for using on the station articles; it's {{NJT rail line}}. If you go to the template talk page, it has very detailed instructions on how to use it. Take a look at a sample edit (for terminal stations) to see how to convert the rail line template into the NJT rail line one. lensovet 22:09, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
