Hyperbowl Plus! Edition

Hyperbowl Plus! Edition is a 3-D bowling-style game made in 2001 by HyperEntertainment. It was created by Microsoft, and can only be accessed by downloading a Microsoft Plus! CD-ROM, enabling other games and accesories, like The Labyrinth Plus! Edition and music-related items such as a CD label maker, which is only available for the Windows XP. The standard mode is 921 bytes.

[edit] Lanes
Starting off after first playing, only two levels are available: a classic lane and a roman type of lane with urns, pits and curves in the path. When downloaded at a price, many other levels can be played with many moving obstacles, such as in levels such as Japan and San Francisco. The upgraded pack (see below), also includes levels such as "Yosemite", and "High Seas".
[edit] Gameplay
Once you select one of the many lanes, the bowling ball, with an assortment of colors and stripes on them, appears on the screen at the starting point. At that point, the player has 30 seconds to roll the ball to the pins by swifttly moving the mouse up, left and right to change directions when desired. A clock at the upper-right corner of the lane window displays the remaining time.
Like a regular bowling game, there are 10 frames in a game and gets two balls in each frame to knock down all 10 pins. After you roll the first ball, a chart displays the number of pins that were knocked down. If the player knocks all the pins down on your first roll, the blue chart displays the word STRIKE. If pins remain standing after the first roll and you knock down all the remaining pins on their second roll, it displays the word SPARE.
After displaying the result, the upper-right corner briefly displays the configuration of the remaining pins from above. Then the 30-second countdown clock is displayed. The game ends when the player completes all ten frames. The screen subsequently displays GAME OVER, and then displays your final score.
[edit] Scoring
Your score is based on the number of pins you knock down. For example, if you knock down six pins on your first roll in a frame, and two more on your second roll, you earn eight points for the frame.
The key to earning high scores in bowling is to get strikes and spares, which entitle you to bonus points. If you bowl a spare, your score for that frame is 10 points plus the number of pins you knock down on your next roll. If you bowl a strike, your score for that frame is 10 points plus the number of pins you knock down with your next two rolls.
The final frame is different than the other frames. If you get a strike or spare in the tenth frame, you get to roll a third ball in that frame. If you bowl a strike on the first ball in the tenth frame, you get two more rolls, even if you also bowl a strike with the second ball. If you roll a spare on the second roll in the tenth frame, you get one more roll. The scoring system for the tenth frame is the same as for other frames. The highest possible bowling score is 300. This is called a "perfect game." You earn a 300 by rolling 12 consecutive strikes—one in each of the first nine frames, and three in the tenth frame. You can view a list of the top five scores earned on the computer.

The version of HyperBowl included in Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP contains two of the six lanes available with the HyperBowl game and is designed for a single player.
When upgrading your HyperBowl game, you can chose up to four additional lanes and support for as many as four players at one time.
