I-GO

I-GO is a non-profit organization which operates a car sharing service in Chicago. I-GO has partnered with the City of Chicago, the Chicago Transit Authority along with many community and civic organizations. The organization was developed in 2002 by the Center for Neighborhood Technology. As of June 2006, I-GO has about 3,800 members and 100 cars available for use. Cars are located in 30 Chicago neighborhoods. Members pay a one-time fee to join, and an annual renewal fee, then they are billed monthly for their use of I-GO cars based on time of use and miles driven. I-GO use a number of models of car including: Scion xB, Honda Civic, Honda Civic Hybrid, Honda Element, and Prius. I-GO operates their cars through a franchise agreement with Flexcar, which allows I-GO to use Flexcar's technology, in addition to allowing members of each other's service to use each other's vehicles.
