a questin about the rest of the map i understnad very little of the map, why is alska considerd territory? i know it was at once... but, when would this map be dated then? also, can somebody expalin the large blob in central arabia and most of africa?
[edit] blob
I don't know about the dating of the map exactly or when Alaska was Russian territory, but the large blob in Africa is rather a lack of a blob - there weren't countries in Central Africa at the time, the other things marked as countries were colonies and such. The one in Arabia is the boundary of the Ottoman Empire. Most of that area is just uninhabited desert area and was not incorporated into the Empire. If you look closely you'll see that the same area is covered by the Near East, Northern Africa and the Balkan Peninsula. Also the Austro-Hungarian Empire and other countries of the time are there. and they wouodnt have colony boundrys. it looks liek soembodym ade it fast and didnt finshi it.
[edit] The map is not strictly correct
By the time russian empire reached its maximum extent on the continent, Alaska was already sold long ago so it shouldn't be on the map. I would also like the author to exlpain the rationale behind making Afghanistan and parts of Ottoman empire in Russian influence.
- it should be another color, and we should put a map date so that we can acuratly describe the map, because if there isnt a date we cant say what exactly we cna use the map for also, there isnt a boundry for southern ottoman empire, it just connects with the rest of the open area in arbaia and north africa--Cody6 21:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
