I restored the U.S. census demographic data that had been deleted on Jan. 31. The numbers in the data had been "adjusted" on Dec. 28, so I used the Nov. 10 version. Malepheasant 02:35, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
Because the city lies next to LAX, the US' busiest immigration port of entry and its' proximity to South L.A., you find the majority (you see the data in front of you) of Inglewood residents are non-white and/or foreign-born. The city was mostly black (the 'white flight' began after the 1965 Watts riots) from 1970 to 1995 when Hispanics are the largest ethnic group (about to be a majority through immigration). There are whole sections of Inglewood became populated by Mexicans and Central Americans, Asian Americans and some white Americans still live there. But the large African-American population had been what people thought of Inglewood, but I'm told of some African (like Kenya, Nigeria or Ethiopia) and Middle Eastern people moved in there in the 1990s, and I've seen more Latinos than blacks whom nearly replaced the white population long ago. Not everyone in the city is poor or on welfare (the local media shown too much of this) and rising home values is an example of upper-class Blacks, and Whites, foreign-born or native-born, now want to live in Inglewood. There used to be many Europeans, refugees came after WWII in the western parts near what's the I-405 freeway, but had moved on in the 1960s. I've known a family friend, whose parents of Italian descent lived in Centinela Park and most of her neighborhood were Greek, Polish, Hungarian and Lithuanian (this is her opinion or up to her knowledge of neighbors who may told her that). How and why would it exceed 100 percent?") - The racial makeup of the city was 51.13% Black or African American, 45.04% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, 17.10% White, 1.14% Asian, 0.69% Native American, 0.36% Pacific Islander, 27.38% from other races, and 4.20% from two or more races.
