The Rennes Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Rennes (IEP) was founded in 1991, and is a part of the Sciences-Po group of higher education schools along with those in Aix-en-Provence, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Paris, Strasbourg and Toulouse.
The school's current director is Erik Neveu.
The current format of study is of five years. At the end students have to pass the exam of the IEP in order to obtain the grade of master.
For entry into this school, only 10% of applicants who applied for membership were allocated places to study. All students at this IEP are obliged to learn at least two foreign languages, and must spend a study year abroad in their chosen nation(s) in order to achieve progress in their second tongue.
In 2005, Rennes hosted the annual Sciences-Po CRIT, in which students from all the IEPs in the country flock together for a 3-day long inter-university sports competition, which IEP Paris won.
