- These introduction letters are used to self-introduce the author to the addressee, or the author can write one to introduce someone else who they know to another person or organization. Examples: introduce former colleague, introduce former employee, introduce a friend or neighbor, self-introduction of independent sales rep to new customers.
[edit] Format
An introduction letter should not be written as a standard business letter or personal letter and should not normally exceed one page. In some cases, introduction letters can include attachments that relate directly to the contents of the letter such as: brochures, pamphlets, career briefs, biographies, etc.
Introduction letters should not be confused with cover letters that are used to transmit resumes and curriculum vitae and various business documents.
