Hi little brother!
I don't know if I can interest you in some of the politics and policies around here but here goes. For the last few days what we call a "revert war" has raged on WP:MOS on whether characters like Ðð and Þþ should be used or not on the English Wikipedia. One tangentially related matter is a proposed move from the Old Icelandic spelling "Höðr" to an anglicized spelling of "Hodur". See Talk:Höðr. You should feel free to participate in discussions and votes like these. But if you do you must be careful to form your own opinions and not assume that I, or anyone else, necessarily knows what he's talking about :)

[edit] Norse mythology naming convention vote notice
A new proposal on the representation of Norse mythology names is now up for a vote. Some people object to it on the grounds that it would use non-English characters in some article titles. PIRC is not a notable corporation.... it is not a corporation. It is a company registered in the UK and it IS notable; perhaps not outside certain sectors of business research, but it is nevertheless notable.
Further, please don't redirect articles without a discussion. That is not how wikipedia strives to operate. Rob cowie 12:07, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Sir, a corporation is, at least according to the Wikipedia-article about it, a "legal person which, while being composed of natural persons, exists completely separately from them". I think this company is most certainly a corporation, but if it is not, I apology for my nonchalant wording.

I'm not sure why you redirected this article to an article about a totally different person, particularly given your edit summary that correctly points out the proper avenue for deletion. Let me know if I'm missing something.Erechtheus 20:28, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, I forgot to sign in. I'm the user Introgressive and I changed that page.
Jörgen Jörgensen is a man that ruled Iceland for a short period of time during the Napoleon wars. When I entered his name in the search bar, I found simply a blank page instead of the article I was looking for. That was because ö and ø are two letters which both stand for the same sound, and since Jörgen was Danish, his name is usually spelled with the Danish letter ø.
Therefore, I redirected the page to his name, since the article about the other Jörgen had been blanked, and there should be no empty pages on Wikipedia. I have no knowledge of why the other article had been blanked and, like you said, it should be voted upon the deletion first.
To conclude, I have no objection to make if anyone wants the article to be properly deleted first, but since I have no knowledge nor understanding of neither the subject itself nor the reason for its articles deletion, I could hardly revert the page myself to its original form nor ask for a deletion.
On a different subject, isn't it amazing how much can be written about nothing? Introgressive 21:04, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. As you can see, I have restored a stub version of the prior article and proposed its deletion. I don't think this will be controversial, but we'll move to WP:AFD if it is. Once the page is deleted, it seems perfectly appropriate for you to create the redirect because both the blanking author and you agree that the two different modified O characters are synonomous.
