Itsagoal (a.k.a. IAG) is an online, browser-based, football (Soccer) management game (MMOG). Within the game the user assumes the role of a manager of a football club and controls all aspects of club management. The main part of the game is the playing of matches against other managers. To do this the manager must assign players to positions on the pitch and select tatical options. League games are played four times a week and there are options to play reserve matches once a week. There are also two cup competitions.
The game is free to play, and there is an additional subscriber service which currently offers managers the chance to customise their clubs to a degree and gives more user features. Managers who subscribe gain no tactical advantage over those who do not.

[edit] Starting
Users must create a unique manager name for use within the game and register a working email address. Registration is immediate and free. Once registered a manager will be able to choose a name for their club and stadium . Once this is done they are free to start exploring their club and setting their team up to play their next fixture.
[edit] Squad
Once a manager is registered on IAG they can begin to manage their team. Initially all teams begin with a senior squad of 23 players, consisting of 3 Goalkeepers, 7 Defenders, 7 Midfielders, 4 Strikers plus 2 randomly generated outfield players. As well as being assigned a general outfield position, players are also designated a more specific position which gives the manager an idea as to where they will perform the best in a match. Each player has a rating out of 100, which initially starts at a low value and it is up to the manager to train them in various skills to improve the player.

Itsagoal leagues (aka worlds) each contain ten divisions, every division contains twenty teams who play each other twice over the course of a season (once home and once away) . The top division in each league is the Premiership, followed by the Championship then Divisions one through to eight. This roughly equates to the English Football League system with the lower divisions being similar to non-league football.

Seasons comprise of 38 league games and last just over two months each (70 days in real time). League matches are played on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays. As well as league games, teams compete in two cup competitions which all teams are automatically entered. Cup matches are played on Wednesdays and Saturdays. These cup competitions are the League Cup and the IAG Super Cup, both cups are a straight knock-out format. The League Cup consists of all 200 sides from each League/World (eg. Cannon), while the IAG Super Cup consists of every team playing in the game. Also teams can play reserve games once every week (Wednesdays). The ability to take part in friendly matches is open to subscribers, available all days of the week except wednesdays.
[edit] Promotion and Relegation
The top three teams from each division are promoted and the bottom three are relegated. There is no play-off system. There is no promotion from the Premiership or relegation from Division Eight as all leagues are self-contained.
