[edit] How do you..?
Can someone please correct the links. I don't know how to edit when you use twice the same link... Thanks.
I think that Kaka is more of a young talent than Baptista? Perhaps that line should be removed.
[edit] Please see Wiki Guidelines
This article read like a news article/editorial and was time sensitive and full of speculation. Please see the article Wikipedia:Guide to writing better articles. I've cleaned it up the best I could, though I don't know many details on Baptista -- such as his date of birth, when he started at Sevilla, and his career before Sevilla. Some background on his nickname would be good, too. --Patik 19:26, July 15, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] More speculation
I don't believe this sort of speculation belongs in his article until it is resolved: "However following the sale of Patrick Vieira the deal is back on. He is likely to join Arsenal soon." Not only is it speculation, but it's not likely that he will join Arsenal soon, at least not this year. Furthermore, it keeps going back and forth, and so it's not really appropriate to add it to the article until it happens. --Patik 04:17, July 23, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Removed a bunch of speculation
Removed a bunch of speculation. Would rather have the Patik remove the "cleanup" section.
- Now that Baptista has finalized a deal, I've overhauled the article with current info and removed all the speculation. I left a note about July 2005's bidding war because it made the sports news almost daily and I find it to be relevant for the time being. Perhaps in a couple years it can be removed, but I think it is significant right now. --Patik 19:00, July 31, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] This does not sound appropriate and objective
Baptista finally established himself in the team when he scored his first hat trick for Arsenal in their League Cup Quarter-Final victory against Liverpool, where he scored 4 overall on January 9, 2007 in a 6-3 win for Arsenal, despite missing a penalty, but yet showed him the lollypop and gained that well deserved hat-trick!!! The Beeeeeaaassst!
[edit] Loan/Transfer
I have deleted the sentence saying his move to Arsenal was a signing for an undislcosed fee, rather than a transfer. I can find no other source to back this up - all other sources say it is a loan deal. Inclduing Baptista himself in this interview - http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1987609,00.html - in which he says there is no clause in the loan agreement that would prevent him playing against Madrid should the teams meet in the Champions League. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mike Infinitum (talk • contribs) 13:14, 11 January 2007 (UTC).
- "Brazilian international Julio Baptista has joined Arsenal from La Liga side Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee" from the Arsenal website - not that hard to find, given that it is cited in the article. Reverted back, although I've added in a reference to the Guardian article too. Qwghlm 14:04, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
It's not that hard to find - doesn't mean it's correct. I can find no other mention of a permanent deal. All these refer to a loan move only:
1. Sky Sports - http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=414128&plid=22692&clid=3&cpid=8 2. Arsenal.com - http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=news&article=438224&lid=&Title=Wenger+-+Baptista+is+ready+to+prove+himself 3. The Guardian - http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,1862779,00.html 4. Real Madrid.com - http://www.realmadrid.com//articulo/rma33346.htm
And of course the link above, in which Baptista confirms himeslf that it is a loan deal.
Feel free to revert back if you can find any other cources stating the transfer is not a loan. --Mike Infinitum 19:20, 11 January 2007 (UTC)—
[edit] caps/goals
according to the arsenal official website Baptista has (at some point at least) scored 3 in 18 games for Brazil. the article however says zero goals in 20 games. which is correct? Chensiyuan 01:50, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
