Topic Question; Why did the North win the Civil War?
The North won the Civil War for several reasons. Neither the North or the South was in the predicament to wage a war.
Neither the north or the south was in a predicament to wage a war. The north had a large military and heavily outnumbered the south. The north had about 22 million people, and the south had about 9 million people which 4 million consisted of enslaved African Americans. Both the north and south announced a military draft, at the end of the war the Union had drafted 2 million people including African Americans, to the low 900,000 men the south recruited.
In comparison the north benefited in transportation, money, factories, food supply, and mineral resources. Meanwhile the south was obviously vulnerable. The south was struggling to keep food, medicine and clothing. Even though the south had limited resources. The north did not receive their win as soon as they thought they would.
