James Ackerman is the CEO of ClickStar, a digital entertainment venture between Intel Corporation and Morgan Freeman's Revelations Entertainment. He is also the Founder of Spinnaker Media LLC formed to develop media companies targeting the family audience. SpinnakerMedia investments include SafeBrowse (www.safeeyes.com) and Propeller Consulting (www.propellerconsulting.net) for which Ackerman serves as Chairman.
Ackerman has served as Chief Executive Officer of OpenTV Corp. During his time with OpenTV (2000-04), he saw the company through a change in control ownership and the acquisition and integration of two publicly traded competitors: Wink Communications and ACTV.
Ackerman was Chief Executive Officer, British Interactive Broadcasting where he was responsible for the launch of the world’s first comprehensive interactive television service allowing consumers to shop, play games, gamble, email and bank on their television sets as part of the Sky Digital satellite service (BSkyB).
Ackerman has also served as Managing Director of Sky Ventures (a division of BSkyB), Vice President International Business Development at A&E Television Networks, Vice President Program Development for Hearst Entertainment; Director of Original Programming, The Family Channel; and Account Supervisor, Grey Advertising.
Today (2007), Ackerman lives in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and two children. He is an active volunteer and partner with Prison Fellowship Ministries and The Salvation Army.
