James Plaintain

James Plantain (or Plaintain) (16??-17??) was a pirate and leader in Madagascar, called the 'King of Ranter Bay'. A former pirate who came to the harbor in 1715, he gained control of the island in 1725. In 1728, in fear of rebellion, he left the island. He has the reputation of a cruel and corrupt ruler.[citation needed]
