OHL Priority Selection- Kingston 6th Round (101st) 2002
NHL Entry Draft- Columbus 4th Round (101st) 2005
Boll was originally drafted by the Kingston Frontenacs, but chose to attempt playing in U.S. college, by playing for the Lincoln Stars. While there he was named captain of the Stars. After a very successful 2nd year in the USHL, he was offered a deal to play in the NCAA. However, his aggressive, hard-hitting, and fighting style would not be well received in the NCAA, as fighting is not allowed. His decision to play in the OHL has been fruitful thus far. His rights were acquired by the Plymouth Whalers in a trade for their 6th Round OHL Priority Selection draft pick in 2006. Boll was named an assistant captain of the Whalers and is a fan favorite, as he was in Lincoln. He is best friends with fellow Whaler, and 2007 team Canada World Junior Championship gold medalist, James Neal.
