Jean Balland

His eminence Jean Balland (born 26th July 1934 in Bué in Bourges in France, died 1st March 1998 in Lyon) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church, and was archbishop of Lyon 1995–1998.
In 1998, just nine days before Balland died, he was made a cardinal by Pope John Paul II.
