Jim Butterfield (football)

Phillip James Butterfield, Jr. (b. November 30, 1926 in Tampa, Florida, d. November 26, 2002)
Jim Butterfield was an American college football coach. He coached at Ithaca College from 1967 to 1994. During his 28 seasons at Ithaca, Butterfield was one of the most successful coaches in the country having won 206 games and 3 NCAA Division III titles. His record in the playoffs was an impressive 21-8. After his retirement, the Ithaca renamed the football stadium in his honor.
Butterfield died of cancer in 2002.
