Oh boy, how do I stay NPOV on this one... --Qviri (talk) 15:34, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
RE: Link/content The external page my group wrote and we decided to generate this page from it in some ways. This is fine. --sYx66 18:57, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I didn't know about that. Usually copy/pastes are a copyright violation, something we can't have in Wikipedia. If you're the original author and you agree to release the copied parts under the GFDL, that's okay. --Qviri (talk) 19:13, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
I've also added a Recommendations section, because I know a lot of students are frustrated with JobMine. This is a good way to get your point across, because CECS will be looking at this page for sure. --sYx66 18:57, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, but no. Please consult What Wikipedia is not, especially Wikipedia is not a soapbox. (Not to mention I believe CECS is perfectly aware of the issues anyway... Fixing them isn't that easy without ditching PeopleSoft.) --Qviri (talk) 19:13, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

- I still don't like your last sentence. It seems opinionated and unappropriate for Wikipedia. I was trying to reword it. Keep in mind "constructive criticism" when you write stuff here. --sYx66 20:39, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

- You mean JobMine is also a target of frequent complaints from the students, with problems ranging from illogical navigation structure, non-functioning browser "Back" button, to the site's "hours of operation" (JobMine is inactive from midnight to 8 am, a very unusual concept on the Internet).? It's factual - Jobmine's popularity with students is dubious. When I have more time, I can try to find something from the Imprint to back this up with... I think I'll reword it slightly, who complain of problems instead of with problems. I kind of fail to see how this is less encyclopedic than a "recommendations" section. To use an external example, Economy of Canada does discuss regional imbalances, but does not make recommendations as to how the federal budget for 2007 should look.
- I don't really get what you're saying about constructive criticism. I do admit I was a bit unpleasant, and sorry for that, I have a bit of a thing about unencyclopedic content. --Qviri (talk) 20:51, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, that's the sentence. You are right that recommendations was a bad idea. You're welcome to have a go at it. --sYx66 23:11, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and in general, I don't know if Jobmine on its own is notable enough to have its own article. Perhaps we should merge this into University of Waterloo under Ties with Industry or something? --Qviri (talk) 20:57, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- I am tempted to say yes, but I think now it is better if we refine the text here. Give it few days then I'll move it. --sYx66 23:11, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Co-op Rankings External Link
I reverted the removal of this link because I can say that JobMine and Co-op Rankings is very much connected. In it's original form the sole purpose of Co-op rankings was as a JobMine aid, used to help fellow students get the best result out of the JobMine system. Even though it has expanded to other universities, it is very much a relevant link that would be helpful for students who read the article and use JobMine.
