Joe David Brown

Joe David Brown (12 May 1915 - 22 April 1976) was an American novelist and journalist from Birmingham, Alabama. His novels included the Western, Stars In My Crown; the World War II drama, Kings Go Forth, which explored themes of male friendship and interracial relationships; and the Great Depression-era con artist comedy, Addie Pray. All of these were adapted into motion pictures, Addie Pray as Paper Moon. Brown served during the Second World War in the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team paratroopers and was recognized with the Purple Heart and the French Croix de Guerre with palm.
