John Abbey

John Abbey, English organ builder (b. December 22, 1785 in Whilton, Northamptonshire - d. February 19, 1859 in Versailles, traveled to Paris in 1826 and built an organ for the Paris Exposition. In addition, he built organs for the cathedrals of many French cities, to include the installation of organ at the Paris Opera (1831). Many French organ builders adopted his English bellows design. His business at Versailles was inherited by his sons.
