John Ortberg

John Ortberg, Jr. (born 1957, Rockford, Illinois) is the teaching pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in Menlo Park, CA, an evangelical church with over 2000 members. A graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary including a Master of Divinity degree and doctorate in clinical psychology. John is passionate about teaching spiritual formation, the transforming of human character with authentic experiences with God. These themes are taught throughout his Christian books.
He is best known for his award-winning books on Christian living released through Zondervan Publishing. He formerly served as a teaching pastor at megachurch Willow Creek Community Church in Barrington, Illinois.
Ortberg has notably spoken out in favor of the recent TNIV translation of the Bible as well as for the Renovaré movement of Christian literature.
