John Ramey
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
John Ramey (b. 23 May 1978) is an American-born singer, songwriter, and sportscaster living in Los Angeles. He is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and makes frequent on-air references to his NorCal roots. Ramey often cites obscure anecdotes regarding Stanford and San Jose State sports as his father, Hal Ramey, broadcasted their games; young John became exceedingly familiar (perhaps obsessed) with the subjects of his father's work. His musical and songwriting style are rather transparently influenced by the Beatles and Bob Dylan.

[edit] Music
Ramey currently performs in Los Angeles with his group the Alan B Shepard Memorial Orchestra. Ramey's debut solo album "Flying Blind" was released to widespread indifference in October 2006. However, the record received sporadic airplay in Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Knoxville, Tennessee in the months following its release. Sales have been alleged by Ramey to be modest but steady.[citation needed]
Ramey has also toured nationally with Dave Insley, Travis Howard, and Walkie Talkie.
[edit] Radio and Television
Ramey's near-radical liberal political views have earned him the handle "GP (Green Party) John" on Bruce Jacobs' national Fox Sports Radio show. Ramey somewhat shamelessly promotes his gigs on Jacob's show, which is ostensibly a sports-formatted program. In addition to his contributions to FSR, Ramey is the TV play-by-play voice of UC Riverside men's basketball, and radio voice of UC-Riverside women's basketball
[edit] Personal
Based on his extemporaneous outbursts on Jacobs' show, Ramey appears to be a huge fan of Bay Area sporting legends Will Clark and Bill Walsh.
