John Wilshere (born 5 May 1978) is a Papua New Guinean Rugby League player who currently plays in the Super League for the Salford City Reds.
He is a household name in Papua New Guinea, where Rugby League is the number one sport in the country[citation needed]. He has represented his country many times and will be a key player in their squad at the 2008 Rugby League World Cup in Australia, to which PNG have received automatic qualification, in recognition of them being considered to be the fifth best Rugby League nation in the world[citation needed].
His previous clubs include Leigh Centurions, Warrington Wolves and the National Rugby League's St George Illawarra Dragons. Along with David Hodgson, he is Salfords specialist goal-kicker.
