I've removed a lot of stuff about Effie's life, which would be better in her biography (Effie Gray). An account of an artist should concentrate on his art. Also the claim that M changed his style for commercial reasons is old-fashioned and is not really supported by the evidence. He was still painting detailed works 10 years after his marriage, and he regularly explained and justified his changes of style, which are complex and extend over a long period.
