Joseph M. McShane

Father Joseph M. McShane, S.J., Ph.D. (Univ. of Chicago) b. 06/19/1949, became the President of Fordham University in the year 2003, after having served as the President of the University of Scranton from 1998 until 2003. He succeeded Father Joseph A. O'Hare, S.J. (who retired from the position), whose 19 years as the President of Fordham University constituted the longest period of time that anyone has held that position. He is a Roman Catholic priest, a member of the Society of Jesus, holds a doctorate in history, and also serves as the head of Fordham University's Board of Trustees ex officio.
