Joseph R. Murphy (Joe Murphy) (born September 27, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee) is a documentary filmmaker specializing in films about cultural obsessions. He graduated from Davidson College in 1970. His films include Hot Lime (1982), Doc and Merle (1985), Talk Hair Talk (1987), Auto Bond (1988), Shoes Required (1989), Life from Stone (1992), Slow Food Fast Times (1995), and Age Matters (2000).
Joe Murphy is currently a full-time Professor at Appalachian State University.
