[edit] Origin of Terminology
Was judicial philosophy first used by George W. Bush? I ask this because I initially heard it used by President Bush in response to a reporter's question prior to the confirmation of Chief Justice John G. Roberts.Patchouli 08:24, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Judicial philosophy has been used for years to describe the leanings of all federal and some state court justices. Bush may have popularized the term in some regions, though, as judicial ideals are often mistakenly characterized as merely "Republican" or "Democrat" instead of addressing the method of Constitutional interpretation.Adamc714 14:55, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] SCOTUS
While it is true that SCOTUS justices are usually the ones labled with a judicial philosophy, many other federal justices are classified as well. Further, non justices can have a judicial philosophy but not an outlet to put their beliefs into action. Adamc714 15:02, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
