Julie Dreyfus
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Julie Dreyfus (born January 24, 1966 in Paris, France) is a French actress. Born to a Catholic mother and a Jewish father.
She is the daughter of actress Pascale Audret (born Pascale Aufray, 1936-2000) and music producer, Francis Dreyfus, founder of Dreyfus Records.
Dreyfus, who speaks fluent Japanese, French, and English, is well known in Japan, where she made her TV debut on a French-language lesson program on NHK's educational channel in the late 1980s, and has appeared on the TV show Ryori no tetsujin (Iron Chef) as a guest and judge. Before going to Japan, she studied Japanese for a while at the University of Paris, and English in Great Britain. She is best known to Western audiences for the role of Sofie Fatale in the film Kill Bill and has been associated with Quentin Tarantino, who is a good friend.
She is also the niece of the famous French folk singer Hugues Aufray. She has a half-sister, Chloe, who is 11 years younger. They share the same father.
[edit] Post Kill Bill
Despite favourable reviews for her performance in Kill Bill, Julie didn't follow it up with further work in America and more or less disappeared from the American film industry. She was a member of the 2007 Gérardmer Film Festival, where it honoured her co-star from Kill Bill David Carradine.
[edit] Personal life
Julie has been less than forthcoming over her own personal life. Refusing to divulge any personal information.[citation needed]
There have been rumours of a relationship with close friend Quentin Tarantino which have neither been confirmed nor denied.[citation needed]
According to David Carradine's The Kill Bill Diary, during the filming of Kill Bill, she spent time with special effects make up artist, Christopher Allen Nelson, who also played the role of Tommy, husband to be of Uma Thurman's Beatrix Kiddo. David recalls seeing Julie and Christopher out for dinner one evening, however she was quick to tell him it was perfectly innocent as she already had a boyfriend, who lived in New York.
