Kambaata

Kambata is an Afro-Asiatic language spoken by approximately 1000000 people in 1999 E.C/2007 G.C in southwestern Ethiopia. It is one of the official languages of the country. It is also the name of the people who speak that language. It was a province of Ethiopia beginning in the early 15th century and ending in the mid-17th century before Ethiopian rule was once again established under Emperor Menelek II. During this first period, Kambaata province was largely Christianized.^[1] Kambata tribe is one of the oldest tribe in Southern Ethiopia. The people are very welcoming and ready to work. That is why the people of Kambata are few when we compare with other tribe. The peole go to work different places looking for green pastures. There are many historical and tourst site. One of them is Mount Ambarcho. Mount Ambarcho is the mountain of the people whereby the sacrifice and celebration was to be done in the past. The king and the god of Kambata lived there. Aba Mancho is the elder of Kambata and he was really respected man. He was diviner at that time. he used to for tell to the people what will come and what happened in the past. He is still alive but the Missionaries abolished his dueties. We need to respect the culture of the people. That is hertage for us. Let Kambata people speak. Daniel Joseph, 11.02.2007 King Dagoye was one of the rulers of Kambata tibe. He was from Oyata clan.His rules were very unbearable for the people who lived at that time. He put the rules which favours Oyata. Any Oyata clan had gurantee of getting new house and fertile land. The contomas were those who were not from the clan of Oyata. They suffered a lot and used to give what they had including their houses and wives too. If oyata young person wantes to marry he had to marry Oyata lady. The Contomas give their own house and land. There was much more connection with the rule of Dagoye with Oromo tribe. Dagoye instituted Gada sistem which is much more different than Oromo. Gada sistem was the organization of the agemates who circumicised at the same time. The people of Kambata lived in Gojam, Debremarkos, Illubabor, Silte, Alaba, Arusi and so on. The people spread all over the country due to shortage of land. Durame is the zonal town of Kambata. Kambata peole are secret keeper and very strong people in the matters of their character which might hurt their personality. There are three mountains in Kambata land. 1. Ambaricho.2 Kataa, 3 Datoo. There is also natural hot water in Motokoma which is know as filwuha(hot water). The longers river in the area is Lagabora which means in kambatinga the area language river of Bora.
