Kanawha was a steam yacht built in 1899 and originally owned by millionaire financier and industrialist Henry H. Rogers. The yahct was acuired by the US Navy in 1917, and saw service during World War I under the names SS Kanawha II and SS Piqua. After the War, it was sold to Marcus Garvey's Black Star Line.
