Karyn Bryant is an American actress, writer, and television personality who was raised in Boston, Massachusetts.

She completed secondary school at Lawrence Academy at Groton, and received bachelor's degrees from Brown University in political science and sociology. Bryant's love of music led to her first television job in 1990, as an MTV VJ. She later hosted a live, daily music program on FX called Sound fX, in which her co-hosts were Matt Ostrom and Orlando Jones. Jeff Probst replaced Jones toward the end of the show's run.

Using live television to hone her skills as a broadcaster, Karyn was chosen by TNT to host a series of entertainment vignettes called Rough Cut. The success of the vignettes prompted TNT to turn Rough Cut into a weekly television series hosted by Bryant. This marked the beginning of Bryant's professional relationship with Turner Broadcasting. TBS soon launched the wraparound series 'Movies, For Guys Who Like Movies. Impressed with her on-camera presence and her encyclopedic knowledge of music, Lorne Michaels picked Bryant to host his new daily VH1 game show, Name That Video in 2001.

A stint hosting CNN's Talk Back Live gave Ted Turner further insight into Bryant's capabilities, and in 2004, Bryant was chosen to co-anchor CNN's revamped Showbiz Tonight. That show was the United States' only live, primetime, hour-long daily entertainment news show. When the series premiered in early 2005, Bryant was the only African American woman anchoring in primetime on any cable news channel.

Growing up in the suburbs of Boston, Bryant became a rabid Patriots and Red Sox fan. That passion drew ESPN into her media fan base, and she joined them for their first live New Years show as the countdown to 2006 began. In 2006, Bryant joined the Showtime Championship Boxing announcer team with Steve Albert, Al Bernstein and Jim Gray.

Bryant lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Wade, and their daughter, Aurora.
