Katy Grannan

Katy Grannan (born 1969) is a contemporary American photographer who lives and works in San Francisco, California and Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from The University of Pennsylvania and received an M.F.A. from Yale University where she studied with Gregory Crewdson, Philip-Lorca di Corcia, and Tod Papageorge. Working in both black-and-white and color photography, she makes highly-charged portaits of individuals and couples in intimate interiors and public parks. Grannan's work has been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally, including the 2004 Whitney Biennial. Her work is in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and The Whitney Museum of American Art. Grannan is co-represented by Greenberg Van Doren Gallery, NY and Fraenkel Gallery, San Francisco, CA.
