Robert David Johnson, also known as KC Johnson, is a history professor at Brooklyn College and the City University of New York Graduate Center. He is a major and renowned critic of Mike Nifong's ethics and the "Group of 88" throughout the Duke Lacrosse Scandal and writes a blog titled "Durham in Wonderland" about the case. Johnson is also writing a book about the event.
In 2002 and 2003, Johnson's application for tenure at Brooklyn College became the subject of significant media attention when he was originally turned down for tenure in the history department. [1] Although he had received strongly favorable evaluations in earlier years, his request for tenure was rejected due to an alleged lack of "collegiality". He eventually received tenure on appeal to the chancellor of the City University of New York system. [2]
Johnson's academic writings include The Peace Progressives and American Foreign Relations (1995), Ernest Gruening and the American Dissenting Tradition (1998), and Congress and the Cold War (2005). He is also one of the editors of a published edition of Lyndon Johnson's White House tapes. [3]
