[edit] Club Career
Playing as a central defender, Curle was a part of the Wimbledon crazy gang and was also one of the players involved in the infamous Battle of Bramall Lane. Subsequently he played for Manchester City as well when he gained his 3 England caps.
Curle also played for current club Torquay as a player between November 1983 and March 1984. He also was club captain at Wolves.
As an ex-player, Curle represented Sheffield United in the 2006 Yorkshire Masters.
[edit] International Career
Curle was a member of the England squad for the 1992 European Football Championship.
[edit] Management Career
Curle was controversially sacked as Mansfield manager in December 2004 after allegations that he bullied a youth-team player. However, in August 2006, Curle won a case for wrongful dismissal against the club and was awarded undisclosed damages. The judge in the case cleared Curle of any wrongdoing, and described Mansfield's disciplinary process as a "sham".[1]
In 2005 Curle was appointed as manager of Chester City and began brightly with the club challenging for promotion from League Two and eliminating Nottingham Forest from the FA Cup.
In December, after being tipped to join as assistant to Neil Warnock at Portsmouth (Warnock turned the job down to remain as manager at Sheffield United), chairman Steve Vaughan was considering giving him an improved contract. However, on 18 February 2006, a disastrous losing run of 11 games in 12 cost Curle his job after just nine months in charge.
In February 2007, he was appointed as Head Coach at Torquay United, where he had played early in his career. He is on a short-term contract that ends in the summer of 2007.
Keith's son, Tom Curle, has played for him at Mansfield and Chester.
