KEVI Radio is a term describing the music and news reports provided to the King Edward VI School Lunch Halls. In the past, KEVI Radio broadcast over Morpeth, Northumberland.
KEVI Radio was founded in 2001 and 2002 with Mr J. White and Mr J. Hughes (student). A Link with Lionheart Radio, a Community Station in Alnwick, was formed. Broadcasting started in March 2003.
Educational and Entertainment Podcasting was going to be introduced in March 2006, as well as the RSL Broadcast in September 2006. In March 2006, KEVI Radio launched its "Your Music, Your Way" scheme where they asked listeners to log onto the website, and take an audio survey so the station was able to adapt its music policy and image further. The Your Music Your Way confirmed that KEVI Radio's target audience wanted more Dance and Rock music. Plans were also underway for the RSL Broadcast which happened on 25th - 29 September 2006. Podcasting on KEVI Radio had never quite taken off, and so the idea was set aside for future consideration.
On September 29, 2006, KEVI Radio finished its FM broadcast to Morpeth and surrounding areas.
Since then, KEVI Radio moved back to broadcasting to the two school halls and now corridors during break times with current Station Manager, Danny Flounders.
KEVI Radio is planning another RSL (Restricted Service License) in early September 2007, if this is given the go ahead the station will broadcast for another one (1) week period.
