From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kevin Kennedy (born 4 September 1961, in Manchester) is a British actor, singer and guitarist. He played bottle-lensed Norman 'Curly' Watts in ITV's long running soap opera, Coronation Street between 1983 and 2003.
Before this, Kennedy was in the band Paris Valentinos which also contained Johnny Marr and Andy Rourke who later played in The Smiths.
After a short break from acting - recovering from a battle with alcoholism, in May 2000, Kennedy released a song and album named Bulldog Nation. The single however, only debuted at number 35 in the UK Top 40 charts.
Kennedy returned to Coronation Street a few months later playing a more confident version of his character, Curly Watts. In December 2003, Kennedy left Coronation Street. He became a father to Katie-May (b. 2004) and has toured with his band, The Bunch of Thieves.
In 2004 he played the role of Amos Hart in the West End adaptation of Chicago.
He is currently playing the Child Catcher in the stage production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in Bristol.
Kennedy is a fanatical Manchester City fan.
