Its four sporting houses are a permanent token of, and tribute to, the Wurundjeri aboriginal people. The houses are:
- Allunga (Yellow)
- Jannali (Blue)
- Kalban (Red)
- Turaku (Green)
[edit] History
The school was established by Nicholas Fenwick on 1 November 1870 on part of 122 acres he had purchased. The land on which the school is situated is traceable to the Wurundjeri people who lived there harmoniously for hundreds of years. Only archaeological and ethnographic records have been found for their existence. On 1 July 1859 the Independent Church of England founded its own school on the same land through the help of a government grant. With a growing enrolment, and under the guidance of the third Head Teacher, John Gladstone, School No.356 bought land, which created a fraction of the current site of Kew Primary School.
[edit] Education
The school has many teachers from prep-year 6. Students also participate in specialists once a week such as Physical education, performing arts, ICT and Art.
