[edit] Situation
Kington is near the Welsh border and, despite being on the West side of Offa's Dyke, has been English for over a thousand years. It is in the shadow of Hergest Ridge, and on the River Arrow, where it is crossed by the A44 road. It is 21 miles north-west from Hereford.
It is the home of Castle Hill Books, and the Kington Connected Community Company (KC3) project.
Mike Oldfield lived at The Beacon, near Kington in the mid-1970s and two of his albums, Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn, were recorded there.
Public Transport is provided by Sargeants Brothers, who provide regular buses to Llandrindod Wells and Knighton, both in Powys, Wales and to Hereford, along with a local town service, and several school services for the rural community.
