Kira is a character in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series.

[edit] About Kira
Kira made her debut in Mortal Kombat: Deception as the first of Kabal's recruits for the new Black Dragon. Her background depicts her as having the ability to take great risks. As well, she possess a rationality and level-headedness that surpasses her fellow hot-blooded recruit, Kobra. In-game, she utilized special moves and fighting styles imported directly from Kano and Sonya's appearances in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance; as a result, she was labeled as being an unoriginal character by the MK fanbase, like in Jarek's case (She was however, better received then Jarek because Kira had unique fatalities as compared to the fact Jarek's fatalites were also copied from another character, along with his entire movelist).

In the mountains of Afghanistan, Kira had disguised herself as a man, and sold weapons to terrorist organizations. During one such transaction in a cave, her gender was revealed, and she had no choice but to fight her way out. Emerging victorious, she encountered Kabal, who had been waiting outside to behold the victor. He had decided to reconstitute the Black Dragon, and observing how Kira conducted herself in executing her misdeeds in a cold and calculated fashion, he was reminded of the Red Dragon, the organization from which the Black Dragon split. Since the Black Dragon did not have this presence, Kabal offered to make Kira his first recruit. Accepting, Kira devoted herself to her new organization. She then went with Kabal to New York City to recruit Kobra.
In Kira's Mortal Kombat: Armageddon ending, she defeats Blaze and absorbs the power of the gods. Kira then resurrects Kobra, who had been slain in battle. But when he is revived, Kobra kills Kira and steals her powers for himself, commenting that she should have left him dead.[1]

- Black Dragon Ball: Borrowing this technique from Kano, Kira hurls herself forward as a ball which knocks her opponent down. (MK:D, MK:A)
- Kiss Of Death: Kira blows forward a purple mist, similar to Sonya's signature moves. The Mist will temporary blind her opponent, allowing for a free hit or combo. However, this move doesn't affect Kenshi. (MK:D, MK:A)
- Night Shade: Kira crouches down and releases a purplish projectile forward. (MK:D, MK:A)

- Her Dragon Teeth weapon style, Xing Yi fighting style, and Black Dragon Ball special move were imported from Kano's Deadly Alliance appearance. The Dragon Teeth's weapon moveset were used by Kano as Butterfly Knives. Her Kenpo fighting style and Kiss of Death special move were used by Sonya in the same game. According to commentary made by Ed Boon on her Deception Trading Card, this was done to compensate for the fact that neither Sonya nor Kano would be featured in Mortal Kombat: Deception, referring to her as 'a female Kano'.
- In the more recent Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Kira retains all of the aforementioned moves (despite the fact that Kano and Sonya are part of the roster in the game), with the exception that her primary fighting style is now Yuan Yang.
- Kira's only original special move in Mortal Kombat: Deception is the purple projectile called Night Shade. Sonya would proceed to borrow this move from Kira in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon which it is called Armed Forces, while Kira retains the move as well (still as Night Shade).
- Kira's Dragon Teeth closely resemble the knife Kano wielded in the first Mortal Kombat film. The knife itself is known as the "Raptor" and was designed by knifesmith Gil Hibben.
- Her biography card was not included in the Deception game itself, nor on the Collector's Edition bonus disc. It was later made available for viewing at Midway's official site. It is also available on the bonus disc of Mortal Kombat Armageddon Premium Edition for the PlayStation 2.
- According to the concept art in Deception, Kira was originally going to be African American.
- Kira's Armageddon ending depicts her helping Kobra, while in Kobra's, he chooses Kira as his queen but she turns him into dust.
