Knaaren

In the game Rayman 3, the Knaaren (the k is pronounced: "kuh-naaren") are invincible ruthless warriors who cannot stand the sunlight. That's why they live in caves underneath the Desert of the Knaaren under the rule of their child King Gumsi, who is not really all that evil. When Rayman defeated their strongest warrior, Reflux, Gumsi called upon the power of the god Leptys, Bringer of Night and Father of the Knaaren people, to give Rayman the power to turn Black Lums into Red Lums. Some of the Knaaren have a soft side, keeping pets and feeling guilty for ganging up on weaker beings. They also use gongs when they want to contact each others. The caverns of the Knaaren feature no shortage of mazes, many of which are unsafe and collapse or are surrounded by green slime. Gongs also represent a trick in distracting these creatures; they attract Knaaren that are in the way of Rayman's path. Reflux is the only Knaaren who is not invincible, but he has a magic staff to make up for that. Reflux was one of the rare good-looking Knaaren, but he gave that up and used the power of the Leptys to become all-powerful and grant André the power to multiply infinitely.
