Lake Elmenteita

Lake Elmenteita is an 18 sq km soda lake, in the eastern part of the Great Rift Valley. The lake attracts visiting flamingo, and its shores are grazed by zebra, gazelle, eland and families of warthog.
The town of Gilgil is located near Lake Elmenteita. Of the Rift Valley lakes, Elmenteita is located between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru. The major Nairobi - Nakuru highway runs along an nearly escarpment offering a wide scenery towards the lake.
Lake Elmenteita has been a Ramsar site since 2005 [1].
