L.C. Waldo on the rocks off Keweenaw Peninsula, Lake Superior. This photo was shot from astern by a rescuer in one of the two lifeboats that finally reached the wreck Tuesday morning, Nov. 11. Note the distress pennant flying from the foremast, the stack still standing, and the rime ice in the rigging. The Waldo's crew had been huddled in the windlass room three days.
