Leave It to Beavis is an episode in the fictional animated series Beavis and Butt-head. It aired in the seventh and final season (in 1997) and is available on DVD as part of The Mike Judge Collection. The episode is a direct parody of the television program Leave It to Beaver.
[edit] Synopsis
Beavis and Butt-head are seen watching an episode of Leave It to Beaver. Beavis tells Butt-head that the show is not what life was really like back in the 1950s. Butt-head agrees, and the viewer is shown Butt-head's imagination of how the show would have acted out in real life, in the form of a parody episode. In the flashback, Butt-head portrays Ward Cleaver, Mrs. Stevenson portrays June Cleaver, Todd plays the role of Eddie Haskell, and Beavis is the title character.
The episode starts with Beavis and Lumpy (portrayed by Stewart) waiting for the bus to take them to school. "Eddie" pulls up and offers Beavis a ride, which he accepts; however, instead of taking him to school, Eddie takes him to a "school" of his own and forces Beavis (whom he calls "Beaver" as a pejorative) to buy him a pack of cigarettes with his milk money. When the store clerk refuses to sell them to Beavis, Eddie becomes angry; when Beavis tries to explain himself, it only infuriates Eddie more, and gets Beavis enrolled in his "human punching bag class".
The scene cuts to the Cleavers' house where "Mrs. Cleaver" is baking cookies and "Mr. Cleaver" is reading a newspaper. When the doorbell rings, Mr. Cleaver is too lazy to answer the door, so Eddie kicks open the door and drags in a now-battered and bruised Beavis. He tells Mrs. Cleaver that he saved Beavis' life, and proceeds to make a sexual advance on Mrs. Cleaver and follows her into the kitchen. As the episode ends, Beavis learns his "valuable lesson", while it is implied that Eddie and Mrs. Cleaver are engaging in questionable activities in the kitchen.
[edit] Notes
- The actual Leave It to Beaver theme song is used both in the parody show's opening and its ending.
