Talk:Lebanon Countryside Trail
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm adding a section of Map Links to see how this works. An article about a bike trail cries out for some sort of annotated map of the trail. Wikipedia does not seem to have a feature for this. The next best option may be to find the latitude, longitude coordinates of important locations along the trail and use geolinks templates to generate links to external map sites. It would be more compact to use {{coor d}} for each location, to avoid generating a list of map links in the article (that might be better when I have a list of locations along the trail which could get large in itself). I might try that if the geolinks templates generate too much content. Teratornis 02:45, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
It appears the geolinks template does not want to coexist with multiple copies of itself on a single page. Each template writes a hyperlink in the same position to the right of the article title. I will try replacing the geolinks templates with {{coor d}} templates next and see how that works. Teratornis 05:12, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Page Rearrangement
I rearranged the page to put the map links higher, since the whole section is more like a trail description. I cleaned up some wording to flow better. I removed all but one of the geolinks templates and replaced them with {{coor d}} templates. That fixed the ugliness of multiple coordinate numbers stacking up to the right of the page title. However, the resulting map references open at an inconveniently large zoom factor. I might see if I can get the template to generate streetscale references. But this is not a big deal. Next I might try to get some photos of the trail. Precise distances along the trail to the locations I mention would also be nice. I'll try to look those up on the Web, or record them on my next visit. Teratornis 02:37, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
