Limelight Networks is a network for bandwidth-intensive rich media applications over the Internet. It is based in Tempe, Arizona, U.S.A.
The company seeks to position the Limelight Content Delivery Network (CDN) as the best platform for distribution of video, music, games, downloads, and social media content to large audiences around the world. It states that it has more than 700 customers, including Akimbo, Amazon Unbox, Belo Interactive, Brightcove, "BuyMusic" @ Buy.com, DreamWorks, FOXNews.com, IFILM, ITV Play, Marimba, MSNBC.com, NC Interactive, Radio Free Virgin, Valve Software, and Xbox Live.
In 2006, the company received additional capital from a $130 million equity financing round led by Goldman Sachs Capital Partners.[1] The company's president and CEO is Jeffrey W. Lunsford.[2]
In June 2006, Limelight Networks was sued by Akamai Technologies and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology over alleged patent infringement.[3] [4]
