Lincoln College is a Uniting Church in Australia residential college affiliated with the University of Adelaide. It was established by the Methodist Church of Australasia in 1952 and is named after Lincoln College, Oxford at which John Wesley was a fellow. Lincoln College started as a men's college and admitted women in 1973. Currently the college has 240 residents, with about 49% international students[citation needed].
It has a weekly published newsletter called the "Ibex." It is notorious for its 'Back Page' which reports on gossip from the previous week. this includes scores, spews, notable mentions and quotes. In recent times the Ibex has come under scrutiny by people who are worried about harrassment; numerous people, however, have been instrumental in ensuring that the popular aspect of college life still exisits.
The yearly magazine publication is called the "Stag."
The alumni association has a newsletter called the "Lincoln Line."
The Cambridge Balcony Bar on O'Connell St is now the home of Lincoln College Pub Nights. They recently moved from the British Hotel to the Dover, then again from the Dover when it was converted into apartments. Many collegians also frequently visit the Oxford Hotel.
Lincoln Students also have a strong bond with the Blue and White Cafe on O'Connell St. After college pub nights, students often frequent the Blue and White Cafe for an 'AB'.
The College was the centre of a controversy consisting of a web cam placed in female toliets of one of its buildings becoming headline news in the Adelaide Advertiser in 2004. (1)

Lincoln Collge has an unfortunate history of sport. Whilst enthusiastic, Lincoln Students often find themselves competing for last position with Flinders University Hall. Nevertheless, Lincoln is traditionally strong in some of the more atypical sports such as Boat Racing and Debating.
[edit] Cultural Events
The College Club has a range of 'cultural' events throughout the year organised by the Cultural Secretary. These include annual winery tours to surrounding wine regions such as the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley, weekly pub nights and the annual 'Hen's and Buck's' pub crawl, a favoured event for many.

The social calender at Lincoln consists of four main events throughout the year as well as O-Week and Re O-week. First semester includes Birthday Bash, celebrating Lincoln College's creation and the Lincoln College Open Show. The Open Show is an event where all other North Adelaide Colleges are invited to attend. It was entitled Trapdoor until 2005 when it was changed to a 'Battle of the Bands' format, with much success. Second semester includes Lincoln Ball and the end of year celebration, VD (Valedictory Dinner).

A sizeable amount of international residents call Lincoln College their home away from home. As such, their needs to be taken care of. International night is held yearly in May with a range of food prepared by the international students and the kitchen staff. The night is also spiced up with a performances by both international and local residents. In keeping with common asian values, the night is also non-alcoholic.

- It has become a tradition at Lincoln, like many other Australian Colleges, that male students drop their pants whenever Daddy Cool's classic single Eagle Rock is played. The full tradition requires female students to accordingly remove their tops, however this is rarely ever adhered to.
