Vaccine, vol 21, p 4700-4703 (2003) PMID 14585678 ] While working on an apnoea monitor for babies developed with her husband decided she had found the explanation for cot death. This assertion was received coolly by the bulk of the medical profession. Later she applied considerable effort to re-interpreting existing work to suggest conventional theories of immunisation are completely wrong. |

WEBSITE http://www.jayne-donegan.co.uk/ | In 2002 Dr Donegan acted as an expert witness for two mothers who did not want to vaccinate their children. They had been taken to court by the two absent fathers.
Dr Donegan's position was that 1) there are other ways of achieving health than vaccination 2) there are many problemsassociated with vaccination- which even now are not properly investigated 3) vaccination is not mandatory in the UK so if parents who are separated fail to agree, it should be the parent who has day-to-day care of the child who should decide. In the absence of any clear, open, objective and well designed studies on vaccination safety, the observations and recommendations that were presented to the court were made by carefully sifting through what studies were published in refereed medical journals and other sources; in particular looking at the methods and the results of the studies, rather than the conclusions which often did not reflect the findings. Analysing the data in this way raised serious questions about the usefulness and advisability of vaccination. Unfortunately, the adversarial system of UK law is such that hostile interrogation of witnesses is more about scoring points than seeking the truth. See 'JUNK SCIENCE OR JUNK JUSTICE?'on http://www.jayne-donegan.co.uk/ articles She is a GP and Homoeopath practicing in London as can be confirmed by contacting the General Medical Council and the Faculty of Homeopathy. "Stood up in Court and told a judge that several papers supported her arguments. He read them. They didn't. She was obliged to agree with this in open court"[1]. "... The judge found this doctor guilty of using "selective quotations", of making "unsubstantiated claims", and of "being confused in her thinking, lacking logic, minimising the duration of a disease, making statements lacking valid facts, ignoring the facts, ignoring the conclusion of papers, making implications without any scientific validation, giving a superficial impression of a paper, not presenting the counter argument, quoting selectively from papers, and of providing in one instance no data and no facts to support her claim". It was Dr Donegan's evidence that Lord Justice Sedley dismissed as "junk science" at the subsequent appeal. Yet 12 months later, thanks to the flourishing network of anti-immunisation parents' groups out there, Dr Donegan's junk science is readily available to anyone trying to make informed decisions about vaccinations. ..." Asserted that half the deaths of Aboriginal children were caused by immunisation, and that if found in time they nearly but not quite all be cured by injections of VItamin C. Also an expert on Opals.

His anti-vaccinationism followed his anti-vivisection - the vaccine was prepared in anaimals. He condemned the experiments pointing to the currently generally accepted explanation of pernicious anaemia as they were done partly in animals, and the treatment succeeding at the time as it involved eating large amounts of liver, and asserted he could cure the condition (absence of intrinsic factor, failure to absorb B12, by exposing the patient to ultra-violet light.

co-founder and president of the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) |
She is the co-author of DPT: A Shot in the Dark (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich 1985; Warner 1986; Avery 1991); author of The Consumer's Guide to Childhood Vaccines (NVIC 1997) and editor of THE VACCINE REACTION. After 1980 helped launch a grassroots movement to bring the issue of vaccine safety to public attention. Lead demonstrations at CDC; White House 1986. Wrote DPT: A Shot in the Dark "the first major, well documented critique of America's mass vaccination system" She served on the National Vaccine Advisory Committee, and was appointed to the Institute of Medicine Vaccine Safety Forum in 1995, where she has helped to coordinate five public workshops on vaccine safety issues. She also served as the consumer voting member on the FDA Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee from 1999-2003. She has represented health care consumers at many scientific conferences, government meetings and legislative hearings and is a featured speaker at health care conferences in the U.S. and Canada and Europe. As NVIC's public spokesperson, she has contributed to numerous newspaper and magazine articles about vaccine safety and appears on national radio and television programs discussing vaccines and diseases and advocating informed consent to vaccination. Her oldest child developed multiple learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder. She blames this on a severe reaction to his fourth DPT shot in 1980 when he was two and a half years old. |
