I have intially decided to use the following format for the chronological list:

Month
- Day and date eg Monday 15th - Venue (additional notes)

I've started very early (1961) - so that leaves hundreds of local gigs etc to include? Or perhaps we should not have such a far-reaching scope for this artcile and only include major concerts? What gets classed as a "major" concert then? Come on, it's a new article, lets discuss it and reach improvement by concensus. Liverpool Scouse 20:55, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Is this too much out of context detail?
I think it's certainly appropriate that we may have deeper coverage of the Beatles than many bands- being perhaps the most talked-about band of all time. But this seems like just a list of facts with no hope of being an encyclopedia article. Unless there's some way for this article to evolve that I'm not seeing, I'd suggest merging whatever is relevant into existing articles. I don't see the encyclopedic purpose to a list of gig dates. - That's what I was beginning to think myself to be honest, whilst there may be some use in an (oft-suggested) "Beatles tours" article, which can include relevant information, after starting this article it now seems to be a rather pointless task within the context of an encyclopaedia....and far too painstaking for my fingers besides! - I think one article per tour (and pre-tour days, maybe one per year). Each article could start off as little more than the show dates but really if we dig deep enough there's plenty of material out there to make encyclopedic articles: anecdotes, reviews, instruments used, attendance figures etc etc. I don't see a problem at all and no way (imho) would this or the articles I propose get deleted at AFD.

- This is fine for copyright. It's a list of facts and my understanding is that US copyright law doesn't apply to list of facts. Please put the source into the article though, all articles ought to be referenced. --kingboyk 13:23, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- A pure list like this is pretty unilluminating. An article per tour, as suggested above, seems right; see Category:Concert tours for plenty of examples. The best ones don't just list dates or setlists, but rather seek to explain what was different or powerful or influential or something about a particular tour. Examples include The Rolling Stones American Tour 1972, Darkness Tour, War Tour (or any of the U2 tour articles), Blond Ambition Tour, you can get the idea. I definitely think Beatles tours merit articles, if for no other reason that to show how different they were from modern tours. Wasted Time R 03:57, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
