Talk:List of personalities associated with Wall Street
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This really isn't the way to collect a list of personalities associated with Wall Street; there should be a category that all of these are under, as opposed to creating a section in each person's entry. Isopropyl 18:42, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that I have concerns about this list. It seems to imply that any name on this list is a "legendary Wall Street personality," but in reality it's a list of "anybody notable enough to have a Wikipedia article." I recommend that this list be deleted and replaced with a category, or reworked with a more neutral intro. --Elonka 02:12, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- I add my voice to this suggestion. There may be some significant personalities like J. P. Morgan and Martha Stewart (of note both for her criminal conviction and a former member of the NYSE board of governors... of special interest because she is not listed here!) who might legitimately claim to be people who have significantly shaped the direction of Wall Street and have made a historical impact for the investment community. Some like Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr., while significant historical personalities, don't rise in my opinion to the level that J.P. Morgan has for Wall Street. Still, there is nothing that can't be done with a good category even here, and the category creation protocols are easier to maintain that a static list like this. --Robert Horning 15:17, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
