Talk:List of universities and colleges in Israel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Someone added "Vulkani Institute" to the list. Well, their web site [2] calls them "Volcani", with and O and a C, so this is how we need to call them too. But more importantly, does this institute really give degrees? I can't find any mention of that in their site. If it doesn't, than it should be listed on the list of universities in Israel. Pure research institutes which don't give degrees don't belong here. Nyh
Despite trying hard, I couldn't find any evvidence that the Volcani Institute is an institute of higher learning, in the sense that it gives out degrees. Pure research bodies which have no teachers and give no degrees do not belong in a "List of universities" - it's really hard to stretch the definition of university this far. If you know that Volcani does give degrees, please respond here. Nyh 20:43, 22 Mar 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Requested move
- I suggest moving the article to List of universities and colleges in Israel. Israeli colleges can also hand out graduate degrees, are only secondary in their inability to hand out doctorates. The title is already the standard for Canada, US, and UK. Leaving the name as universities is misleading. --Shuki 21:17, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
