Little Cleo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Little Cleo is a small spoon lure made by the Acme Tackle Company. It comes in nine sizes from 1⁄6 oz to 1 1⁄4 oz, and in many different color combinations. Its wiggling action creates the illusion of a wounded baitfish, acting in an erratic manner. The Little Cleo often instigates reactionary strikes in predatory fish. It is one of the most popular lures in use today. It has been widely available for over a quarter of a century, and named by Field and Stream as one of the 50 Greatest Lures of All Time.
[edit] Acme Tackle Company
In 1952 Art Lavallee founded the Acme Tackle Company. Art decided to enter the fishing tackle business three years after he and his brother Al formed the (jewelry polishing and electroplating Spencer Plating Company). Art took some of the jewelry and bent their shapes to create metal fishing lures which proved to be very successful. The ACME company now offers 16 different lures in over 1200 different types, sizes and color combinations. The company has been making the popular Little Cleo and Sidewinder spoons since 1980.
